28th Annual Paumanauke Pow-Wow

August 9th & 10th, 2008

Saturday festival begins at 10am to 10 pm.... grand entry is 12:30 pm and 7 pm. Sunday festival begins at 10am to 5pm... grand entry is 12 noon.
The Paumanauke Pow-Wow is a celebration of people, gathered in honor of Native American culture. Rated the "Best Hobbyist Pow Wow in the Nation" by "The Spike", this August festival offers the public an opportunity to be immersed in Native American culture, sample Native food, costumes, arts, crafts, song and dance. A major portion of the proceeds provide Native American Scholarship awards.

The Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (bacca) is a not-for-profit cultural resource center for the arts serving the needs of residents, artists, and art organizations since 1974. As an umbrella organization, bacca is designed to develop, sponsor, and present artistic, cultural, and educational programs; and to promote and encourage artists and art organizations in their endeavors.

Bacca programs are made possible in part with public funds from New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation under the auspices of Assemblyman Philip Boyle, Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., Senator Owen H. Johnson, and Assemblyman Andrew Raia; Suffolk County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation under the auspices of County Legislators Wayne Horsley, Steve Stern, Louis D’Amaro and Elie Mystal; Suffolk County Dept. of Economic Development/Workforce Housing; the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and the Town of Babylon, Steven Bellone, Supervisor.
